Seth Rogen's My Mother's Curse Changes Name To The Guilt Trip

2012-02-28 11:22:35 Author: Sean O'Connell

My Mother’s Curse, a road-trip comedy starring Seth Rogen and Barbara Streisand as the traveling mother-and-son combo, has ditched its old name in favor of The Guilt Trip, according to a release from Paramount, which also confirms that the comedy still is on target for a Nov. 2 release date.

The new title might be a little more generic, but it also makes sense according to the plot as we know it. Rogen’s character, Andy Brewster, reportedly will be taking his overbearing mother, Joyce, on a trip to reunite with a long-lost love interest, only they encounter multiple obstacles along the way. In an old story, we noted that the duo would get
caught in a blizzard, which I’m assuming can still happen. I doubt very much about the movie will change along with this title switch. My Mother’s Curse probably didn’t test well as a title, and so it’s out the door.

What else do we know about Guilt Trip? Well, The Proposal director Anne Fletcher works from a screenplay by Dan Fogelman (Crazy Stupid Love, Tangled). Rogen’s character also is an inventor, and he’ll be trying to peddle his latest creation on the trip. And the comedy co-stars Adam Scott, Colin Hanks, Yvonne Strahovski, Casey Wilson and Danny Pudi. That’s a solid ensemble of versatile TV comedians who no doubt will be able to translate some laughs to the big screen. Now that the title is worked out, we’re sure to see a short teaser trailer soon, hopefully one that shows off Rogen and Streisand’s comedic chemistry, as that will have to be the backbone of Fletcher’s film.

27 Février 2012: I, Frankenstein
Le site brisbanetimes.com.au a publié un article sur le début du tournage du film I, Frankenstein:

Gothic thriller starts filming in Melbourne

February 27, 2012 - 4:42PM

A big-budget gothic thriller starring Hollywood A-lister Aaron Eckhart has begun filming in Melbourne.

I, Frankenstein began production at Docklands Film Studios today and will be shot at a number of Victorian locations over the next 10 weeks.

The film stars Eckhart in the title role, alongside Bill Nighy and Australian actors Miranda Otto and Yvonne Strahovski.

The movie tells the tale of Dr. Frankenstein's creature Adam, who, centuries after his birth, finds himself in a gothic city caught in a war between two immortal clans.

I, Frankenstein is written and directed by Australian Stuart Beattie, whose writing credits include Australia and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. He also wrote and directed Tomorrow, When The War Began.

The film, which is being produced by Hopscotch Features in partnership with Lakeshore Entertainment, has been adapted from the graphic novel of the same name by Kevin Grevioux.

Film Victoria CEO Jenni Tosi said making the film in Victoria cemented the state as Australia's leading production destination.

"Film Victoria worked hard to secure this project for the state and for the local industry, so we're thrilled the talents of Victoria's screen practitioners get to shine on such a high-quality, large-scale production," Ms Tosi said in a statement.

Victorian Minister for Innovation, Services and Small Business Louise Asher said the film had created 500 jobs for cast and crew, and would inject up to $37 million into the state's economy.

I, Frankenstein is due for release in early 2013.

27 Février 2012: Luke Stambouliah photoshoot
Le site theleader.com.au a réalisé un article sur une exposition avec un photoshoot d'Yvonne réalisé par Luke Stambouliah:

Artist has eye on the future

BY MARIA GALINOVIC 23 Feb, 2012 04:00 AM

Growing up in front of the camera inspired Luke Stambouliah to get behind the camera.

And once he began to view the world from behind the lens, it took only a few skips and jumps for him to want to be an artist.

Stambouliah, 22, has the honour of being the first artist to be asked to exhibit at the Richard Wherrett Studio, Sydney Theatre, in Walsh Bay. His Betwixt (the Black Show) opened on Tuesday.

The exhibition features images of some of Australia’s best known performers, including Paul Capsis, Linda Cropper, David Field, Sandy Gore, Victoria Haralabidou, Lisa Hensley, iOTA, Olivia Stambouliah (his sister), Yvonne Strahovski and Damian Walshe-Howling.

The honours graduate from the UNSW College of Fine Arts (COFA) wanted to look behind the public surface of his subjects to uncover some of their hidden aspects.

“I’m taking risks to deny the expectation of identity,’’ he said.

He found that actors were usually very generous with their time and keen to support young artists.

Stambouliah grew up in Kingsgrove, the youngest in a family of five children. His psychologist father, Hadi, was a keen amateur photographer and inevitably the kids were his main subject.

At nine, Stambouliah was given his own camera, after which he spent a lot of time following around his older sister Olivia, who was becoming an actor and had lots of actor friends.

‘‘By 15 I knew I loved the fine arts world,’’ he said.

He hopes to become Australia’s Annie Leibovitz, and later on to try filmmaking and directing, perhaps in the style of Jane Campion.

Meanwhile, he is off to the US for an exhibition in May.

Betwixt (the Black Show) ends on Monday, March 5.

Le site encoremagazine.com.au nous donne cette information:

I, Frankenstein begins shooting Monday

Graphic novel turned feature film I, Frankenstein will begin shooting in February, it was announced today.

Adapted for the screen and directed by Stuart Beattie (Tomorrow When the War Began, Pirates of the Caribbean), I, Frankenstein will be shot in Melbourne over a ten week period from Monday February 27.

The film was due to begin in January.

Key cast include Aaron Eckhart (The Dark knight, Thank You for Smoking), Bill Nighy (Underworld, Love Actually), Miranda Otto (Lord of the Rings), Yvonne Strahovski (Killer Elite, I love You Too) and Socratis Otto (X-Men Origins: Wolverine).

The film is expecting a late 2012 release as a collaboration between Lakeshore Entertainment and Hopscotch Features. In Australia it will be released by Hopscotch/eOne. Hopscotch’s Troy Lum, the film’s executive producer said: “Our rewarding production partnership with Lakeshore continues to develop as I, FRANKENSTEIN begins shooting in Victoria. The film will be distributed in the US by Lionsgate.

I, Frankenstein is based on a graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux, author of Underworld, which has also seen a film franchise.

Le site spotlightreport.net parle du prochain film qu'Yvonne va commencer à tourner dans quelques jours:

Eckhart, Nighy, Strahovski and Otto descend on Melbourne in their quest to find “I, FRANKENSTEIN

Written by thespotlightreport. Published on February 22, 2012

WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 22, 2012 -The international and Australian cast of I, FRANKENSTEIN has begun to arrive in Melbourne ahead of the film’s February 27 start of production date.

Cast members including Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight, Thank you for Smoking, Erin Brockovich), Bill Nighy (Underworld, Love Actually, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), Miranda Otto (Lord of the Rings, South Solitary), Yvonne Strahovski (Killer Elite, I Love You Too) and Socratis Otto (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) will call The Garden State home for the ten-week shoot, however locals shouldn’t be alarmed if there’s a certain darkness in the air.

Picking up where Mary Shelly’s classic novel left off, I, FRANKENSTEIN follows Dr. Frankenstein’s creature (Eckhart) into a present day, gothic metropolis. There he is drawn into an epic power struggle between two immortal clans, a battle which will decide the fate of mankind.

Writer/director, Stuart Beattie expands, “Mary Shelley’s story is about the creation of the first human being. I, FRANKENSTEIN is the story about that being becoming human.”

A collaboration between Lakeshore Entertainment and Hopscotch Features, I, FRANKENSTEIN is written and directed by Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean, Tomorrow When the War Began) and based on the graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux (Underworld).

With an enviable list of films under their belt, the producing team includes Lakeshore Entertainment’s Tom Rosenberg (Million Dollar Baby, Underworld) and Gary Lucchesi (Primal Fear, Million Dollar Baby) along with Hopscotch’s Andrew Mason (The Matrix, Tomorrow When the War Began), Lakeshore’s Richard S. Wright (The Lincoln Lawyer, Underworld), and Sidney Kimmel (Death at a Funeral, Lars and the Real Girl).

With an expected late 2012 release, Hopscotch/eOne are releasing the film in Australia while Lionsgate will be distributing the film in the US. Hopscotch Features’ Troy Lum (Executive Producer) said “Our rewarding production partnership with Lakeshore continues to develop as I, FRANKENSTEIN begins shooting in Victoria. It’s fantastic that the second film from Hopscotch Features to go into production is such an exciting project, and we are delighted to be working with the Lakeshore team on home soil here in Australia”.

21 Février 2012: Les 55 plus belles femmes de la TV
Le site The TV Dude a classé les 55 plus belles femmes de la TV. Yvonne est classée à la première place du classement 55 Hottest Women in Television.

1. Yvonne Strahovski — what can I say…I’m a Chuck fanboy! Australia…you’ve done it once again! Bravo! The daughter of Polish immigrants was relatively new to acting when she moved to Los Angeles, and three days later got the role of Sarah Walker, on Chuck! Has the cutest little buck teeth that lets us know she’s only human. But I’m not buying it! Now that Chuck has ended, it looks like her career will only get stronger. Might be seeing her more on the big screen than television. Currently filming, I, Frankenstein. Side note: Ironically she moved her parents to California to be closer to them, and now her current film is shooting in Australia.

19 Février 2012: Interview AskMen

Yvonne Strahovski Interview

What You Need To Know

"'I had a body paint artist, Rodrigo from Costa Rica, who was kind enough to bring his mother along to try and make me feel more comfortable about the fact that I had a straight male body paint artist.' -Yvonne Strahovski"

It’s been five years since Yvonne Strahovski first appeared as the sexy spy Sarah Walker on NBC’s cult favorite Chuck, and after its bittersweet finale earlier this year, the sparkling Aussie export is ready to move on. She'll appear in next fall’s highly anticipated Seth Rogen comedy My Mother’s Curse, but first we get to see a new side of her in a racy SoBe ad campaign in the new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition that features the self-described tomboy covered in nothing more than a bucket’s worth of paint. Here, she discusses moving on from Chuck, what it’s like having a complete stranger use your body as a canvas, and why men should never, ever shave their chest hair.

Congratulations on Chuck. Are you sad that it’s over, or excited to move on?

The end was very bittersweet, but I think we’re all excited to move on. There were a lot of tears on the last day of shooting, and I think I was the most pathetic one, although Zach [Levi] was in close contention with me. But it is exciting to move on. It finished at the right time. I think five years is a great run, especially in this day and age when you see so many shows go up and survive less than six episodes. Given that we were always on the bubble, it’s a great victory shared amongst the cast, crew and fans -- especially the fans, because they were the ones that got us there.

Talk to me about My Mother’s Curse, your upcoming comedy with Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand.

It was really exciting! I auditioned for that and got it, and it was great working with Barbra Streisand and Seth Rogen. I feel lucky that I got to work with some of the big legends in town.

What was it like working with Seth Rogen?

His laugh is the greatest thing ever. It’s so unique! He was very chill, and the dynamic between Barbra and Seth was great. I’m excited to see what they’re like on-screen. It’s a very cool combo.

Why do you think so many Australians have found success in Hollywood?

I think most of us come from a training background, so we studied it, and we have a real sense of the art of it, and most of us are trained to do an American accent, which is something you definitely need. I think, especially for males, they tend to be quite rugged and scruffy, and I think the industry here likes that kind of energy for their leading men.

Let’s talk about the photoshoot you did with SoBe that appears in the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.

SoBe approached us, and I was immediately interested because I’m a fan of their zero-calorie drinks, and I knew about Ashley Greene’s campaign, and I loved those photographs. I had never done anything like this before, so it was the body painting aspect that got me interested in the first place.

Was it awkward having a complete stranger paint your naked body?

It was a little. I woke up at midnight; that was my call time. And I had a body paint artist, Rodrigo from Costa Rica, who was kind enough to bring his mother along to try and make me feel more comfortable about the fact that I had a straight male body paint artist, and she didn’t speak any English, so that was pretty funny. You sort of get used to it after that many hours. You sort of think, "Who cares?" and it looks so real you feel covered anyway. I really love the ways the photos turned out.

How did your parents react?

They were really cool, actually! They thought it was a great idea, and they really loved the photos.

Yvonne Strahovski tells us what she looks for in guys, next...

What’s the best compliment anyone’s ever given you?

That’s a tough one! Can we come back to that?

What’s the biggest grooming mistake a guy could make?

Removing chest hair and hair in general. I think a man is a man, and a man has a hairy chest, so let that be! That’s my take on it.

What’s your biggest turn-on in a guy?

Their personality, I have to say. They have to be gentle, understanding, honest, and compassionate. Sense of humor, as well, long walks on the beach -- that kind of thing.

And your biggest turnoff?

Aside from the hair removal, guys assuming that their pickup line is going to work. I remember being at Greenblatt’s on Sunset, and some guy just walked straight up to me, and he had some bling on and whatever, and said something about a party down in Malibu and asked if I would jump in his car and go to the party. All I could think was, "Who are you? I don’t know you, and I don’t care about how good your car is."

What jewelry is acceptable for men to wear?

I think rings and bracelets and leather bands and necklaces are OK. I’[m] not sure about earrings, but I think the rest is cool.

Who should pay on the first date?

I guess I am a bit of a traditionalist. I think the guy should pay, even though I’m all for equality, and then once you start dating, it’s OK to switch it up. It’s an initial, traditional gesture that is remembered.

Do you prefer when a date is planned out or spontaneous?

I like both, but I do like the spontaneity. It’s kind of cool to just go with the flow and be surprised and not really know where you’re going, as long as they warn you about the dress code. That’s important. If someone takes you out, and you’re wearing sweatpants and a T-shirt and they take you to a fancy place and you’re unprepared, that’s bad.

One final piece of advice for men in five words or less.

Be real; don’t be douche-y. I’m not sure if some people don’t know how to not be douche-y, but we’ll go with it.

The Elite – Yvonne Strahovski

February 9, 2012

Nearly everyone has their “List.” If you’re single, these are the people you’d crawl through fire to spend a night with. Or if you have a partner, these are the people you get a “free pass” with on the astronomically-remote chance you had a shot.

My list is called The Elite, and I’m pretty selective. These are women not only of surpassing beauty, but keen intelligence, incredible talent, and outstanding personality. And the first one I’ll spotlight is Yvonne Strahovski.

This gorgeous Australian blonde first came to America’s attention when she was cast in the role of CIA Agent Sarah Walker on NBC’s Chuck. And while it was obvious she could fill the femme fatale role with ease, what we came to learn over the next five seasons was that this woman could flat-out act. Chuck started out as an action-comedy spy spoof but gradually morphed into drama, light-hearted, but still drama. Yvonne showed her versatility here, lending credibility to every dramatic moment and warmth to every gentler one. When Yvonne’s character was in pain, you were in pain with her. When she was smiling, you believed everything was right with the world. And, of course, when the show called on her to turn on the sex appeal…well, she could do that too.

Her dance background also lent itself towards fight choreography, which meant Yvonne’s Sarah Walker was an absolute bad-ass in a brawl. She made breaking limbs, hurling blades, and firing guns look as graceful and effortless as breathing. In one particular episode where the generally-calm Walker was pushed into a state of near-blind rage, she became a one-woman wrecking crew, risking everything to save her beloved Chuck.

But she also brought a great warmth to the role. As the show progressed and Sarah and Chuck struggled with and finally gave in to their feelings for each other, Yvonne easily transitioned from “deadly beauty” to “loving wife.” Played with different hands, the Sarah-Chuck relationship could have played out like the cliched “woman with dorky guy” entertainment trope, where you never really believe that she’s with him. But with Yvonne, she always made you believe that this was the man she loved, no matter how unlikely it may seem from the outside.

Chuck ended earlier this year after five seasons. Morgan Lewis goes into detail on the end of the cult-favorite show over on his blog, (BEWARE: SPOILERS) so it seems superfluous to go into much detail here. Following @Y_Strahovski, Yvonne’s official Twitter account, you could tell she was deeply saddened by the end of the journey while comforting and giving shout-outs to devoted fans. But while we may be seeing less of Yvonne in the short term, it’s hard to imagine she’ll be out of the spotlight for long.

She has already branched out into other media, providing the voice and face for the video game Mass Effect 2‘s Miranda Lawson and recently posed wearing only body paint for a Sobe advertising campaign.

As long as her agent has at least some sense, the possibilities for Yvonne are nearly endless. TV, movies…she may even be able to become one of the first female action leads, something Hollywood has tried infrequently but with little success, largely because they chose either hot women who couldn’t act or hot women who couldn’t fight or hot women who couldn’t do either. Yvonne can do it all, and hopefully she’ll get a chance to.

We’ll be waiting.

Yes, the brains at BioWare have confirmed that if you didn't get Miranda killed in Mass Effect 2, she'll be back in the next game in 2012, Easily the hottest member of the Normandy's crew, Miranda is actually a high-ranking Cerebus member who has been genetically engineered to operate at peak human efficiency. Yvonne Strahovski, Tricia Helfer & Seth Green Lend Voices to MASS EFFECT 3

By Pietro Filipponi January 31, 2012 - 1:48pm

Award-winning developer BioWare, a label of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:EA), announced today that the demo for 2012’s first blockbuster game, Mass Effect™ 3 will be available beginning February 14, 2012.

Not everyone will survive. An ancient alien race, known only as "Reapers", has launched an all-out invasion leaving nothing but a trail of destruction in their wake. Earth has been taken, the galaxy is on the verge of total annihilation, and you are the only one who can stop them. The price of failure is extinction.

You are Commander Shepard, a character that you can forge in your own image. You determine how events will play out, which planets to explore, and whom to form alliances with as you rally a force to eliminate the Reaper threat once and for all. Mass Effect 3 will react to each decision you make as you play through a truly unique experience of your own creation.

In a series known for delivering one of the most cinematic experiences in all of interactive entertainment with an emphasis on high quality digital acting, BioWare is aiming to once again set a new bar with Mass Effect™ 3. Today, BioWare, a Label of Electronic Arts Inc., unveiled the cast for 2012’s first blockbuster game, Mass Effect 3. The ensemble will see the return of fan favorites, including Martin Sheen as the Illusive Man, Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale as Male and Female Shepard and will introduce Freddie Prinze, Jr. as James Vega, a marine who will help Commander Shepard take Earth back.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the passion and emotion the entire cast brought to their performances in Mass Effect 3,” said Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series. “In a story where Earth and the entire galaxy are at war, we needed to take the performances to a level of dramatic power and intensity that we’ve never previously attempted. This extremely talented cast delivered.”

The star-studded cast for Mass Effect 3 includes the return of Golden Globe winner Sheen (“The Departed”, “Apocalypse Now”), Seth Green (“Robot Chicken”, “Family Guy”) as Joker, Tricia Helfer (“Battlestar Galactica”) as the Normandy’s A.I. EDI, Yvonne Strahovski (“Chuck”) as Miranda, and Carrie-Anne Moss (“The Matrix”) as Aria T'Loak. Other returning fan favorites include Meer and Hale as Male and Female Shepard, Ali Hillis as Dr. Liara T’Soni, Keith David (“Platoon”) as Captain Anderson and Lance Henriksen (“Aliens”) as Admiral Steven Hackett. Prinze, Jr. (“24”) and Jessica Chobot (G4 TV) as news reporter Diana Allers, are the newcomers to the series.

“I have always loved science fiction and I have always loved games and Mass Effect is really the first time both come together successfully,” said Prinze, Jr. “It is a completely immersive game where you really feel like you’re part of this journey inside this universe. It will make you think, you will care about the character you are playing, and you will care about the characters that you bring into battle with you.”

In Mass Effect 3, players will be thrust into an all-out galactic war to save the galaxy from an ancient alien race known only as the Reapers. Players will assume the role of Commander Shepard, a war-torn veteran who’s willing to do whatever it takes to eliminate this nearly unstoppable foe. With a team of elite, battle-hardened soldiers at your side, each player decides how they will take Earth back, from the weapons and abilities they utilize to the relationships they forge or break. Gamers can get their first taste of the galactic war when the Mass Effect 3 demo launches worldwide on February 14.

Mass Effect 3 arrives on the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC in North America on March 6, 2012 and in Europe on March 9, 2012 and is available for pre-order now at participating retailers. Fans who pre-order* have the opportunity to arm themselves with cutting-edge in-game weapons and armor to prepare for the all-out galactic war.
